All Names of Jesus Christ

Jesus the originator of Christianity has many names. The Bible recorded over 50 names of Jesus in the Old and the New Testament.

One would wonder, how can an individual have so many names, and what are the essence of the names?

Is Jesus's Middle Name Devonte? All Names of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is not a man. He is God, though He manifested in the form of man. He did not come to the works to fulfill a single mandate. He came to save the whole of humanity from the bondage of sin.

Jesus is the solution to all the problems of man. Each name He has is a solution to a specific problem of man. The Bible says, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12.

Some of His names include; Author of Life, Bread from Heaven, Bread of Life, Chief Shepherd, Consolation of Israel, Deliverer, High Priest, Light of the World, and more.

The coming of Jesus truly changed our world. He brought deliverance, salvation healing, and hope to the hopeless.

All the names of Jesus Christ carry power. Though Jesus is no more on earth, His name can do those miracles He did when He was on earth.

In Acts chapter 3, the Bible recorded how Peter and John used the name to heal a lame man. The disciples went further to carry our spectacular miracles in the name of Jesus.

Is Jesus Name Joshua?

The original Hebrew name for Jesus is Yeshua. The name has the same pronunciation as Joshua leader of Israel in the Old Testament, who succeeded Moses.

The roles that Jesus and Joshua played are similar to some point,  only that Jesus's role is for the entire humanity, and the effect is eternal.

The New Testament was written in Greek, it brought a slight change to the translation and pronunciation of the name.

In reality, God does not want us to see Jesus in the shadow of Joshua. He does not want us to miss the point that Jesus is God, far greater than Joshua.

Is Jesus's Middle Name Devonte?

Jesus does not have a middle name. Over the years people have tried to attach some other names to his name to add one meaning or the other to it.

The truth is when the angel Gabriel visited Mary His mother and informed her that she will give birth to the savior of the world she also gave His name.

The angel told Mary He shall be called Jesus, for He shall save His people from their sins. Prophets of old foretold the coming of Jesus and other events that will happen as a result of His presence on earth, they did not mention His name.

Angel Gabriel mentioned the name to Mary but did not include any middle name. That was not a mistake or an oversight. It was the perfect plan of God. He wants all attention to bed directed to that name Jesus alone.

The name is a title that encompasses all that Jesus came to do on earth. There is no other name that we can add to it to make it fit the role it meant to play in our lives.

Who is The Son of Jesus

Jesus did not marry when He was on earth. He did not give birth to any child. The reason for this is that Jesus came not to live on earth and raise a family but to be a sacrifice for our sins.

The prophets had earlier foretold what He will come to do. He came to fulfill those things that were written about Him.

He only lived on earth for 33 years, and those years were full of pains, accusations, tests, temptations, persecutions, and endurance of sinfulness nature of men.

For Jesus, getting married and raising children would have been a big distraction, and problems for the children He will leave behind after His death.

Though Jesus do not have biological children, He was able to raise many spiritual children, "For as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to be children of God." John 1:12.

Anyone who confesses his sins and accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior immediately becomes a child of God, and a son of Jesus. This is the ultimate will of God for mankind, "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9.
