How to hear the voice of god

How
To Hear The Voice Of God

If you know how to hear the voice of God, you
are blessed. This is because only very few people enjoy this privilege, and
they have access to the secrets of God. God is a powerful and personal
experience for many people. Some people believe that prayer and meditation is
the only way to hear the voice of God and get answers to their questions. But
what about those who can’t pray or meditate, such as people who live in a noisy
city or for whom prayer and meditation are not an option? The Voice of God
helps solve this problem by providing a channel for people to communicate with
God and receive his opinion on their lives.

How can we hear God speak? How do we recognize
God’s voice among all the voices we hear on daily basis? These are questions
that many people are asking today about hearing God’s voice. The answers can be
found in God’s word – the Bible.

The Bible is the only authentic source we can
rely upon to get the right information about this all-important topic. People
have shared all kinds of experiences regarding how God speaks. We cannot use
these as standards to guide us on the issue. The word of God is the true guide
that we need.

God Is Speaking to you

The Bible tells us that the Lord speaks to us
through nature. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim
the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1. When you look at the natural features
around us, and you behold the spectacular sights of heavenly bodies, what do
you see? They declare the glory, power, intelligence, and majesty of God. They
are showing us that God is the only one who deserves our worship.

Why We Need to Hear God’s Voice

God who created us has plans for us. First He
created us for His pleasure, and then He has a unique plan for every individual
on the surface of the earth. God wants to communicate His will to us from time
to time as occasion demands. That is why we must hear His voice. There is no
experience as great as hearing God speak. It will open your eyes to hidden
things about your life. It will set you on the right path to fulfilling your
destiny. If you can make this a constant experience, you cannot but live a
fulfilled life.

Moses was 80 years old when he heard the voice
of the Lord at the back of the mountain. That made him recover all his lost
years. It relaunched him back to achieve what he failed to do in his younger
years.

How God Speak to Us

To hear from God, you must be a child of God.
Jesus said, “my sheep hear my voice and they follow me.” John 10:27.
If you are not one of his sheep you cannot hear his voice, and you cannot
possibly follow him. For God to speak to you, you must do away with your sins,
that is when you are ready to hear.

God speaks to us through the Holy Spirit which
He had given to us as the seal of our salvation. This usually happens in form
of “leading,” so that we just know what God wants us to do. God can
also speak in an audible voice, through dreams, vision, and life experiences.
When you pray to God in prayer, He can respond to you through any of these
mediums. They are the methods recorded in the Bible that God used to speak to
people. He is still using them today.

When God speaks, how do you recognize His
voice? God is not a charlatan, neither does He speak anyhow. The Bible
describes His voice as the still small voice. In 1 Kings 19, when Elijah was
running from Jezebel, he encountered this voice. It guided him to know what to
do to save him from the life-threatening situation he was going through.

In this world, it is very important to hear
the still small voice of God. He wants us to know what he wants for us. We may
have felt like God abandoned us in times of tragedy, but he has not. He is
waiting patiently for us to come back to him. He wants to communicate his love
and comfort to us so that we will not be discouraged.

Practical Steps To Know What God is Saying

There are three things you should start doing
if you want God to speak to you and if you want to know what God is saying.

1. Pray for guidance. You need to allow God to
lead you to know how He will speak to you. God himself will decide that. In the
Bible, He chose to speak to Daniel by vision, Samuel by an audible voice, Paul
by vision and dreams, etc. You don’t expect Him to speak to you in any of these
ways. Ask Him to guide you so that you will know when He is speaking. Once God
has established a particular way of speaking to you, that is what He will
continue to use.

2. Listen for the voice of God. It takes a
quiet spirit to hear from God

The voice of God can be hard to hear when life
is too busy. When the noise in the world competes for our attention, it becomes
impossible to hear God’s voice. This is one of the reasons why many people
cannot hear from God.

Create time to pray and meditate on the word
of God. Practice being quiet and listen to your spirit. God will communicate
with you through your spirit. If your spirit is crowded with other things God’s
voice will not be strong enough in your heart to make any impact. It will be
buried easily among other irrelevant thoughts.

3. Practice hearing and doing what God is
saying. Make it a constant practice. You may not get a positive result when you
start, but you have to persist. Whenever God speaks to you, follow it up with
action. It is not the hearers of the word that are blessed but the doers. This
starts with taking time away from distractions and self-talk and engaging in
thoughtful listening.

We need to develop the discipline of
prayerfully putting ourselves in a receptive posture. God will speak if He sees
that we are ready to hear and eager to do what He says.
